Second Year HEP Students' interaction with Exchange Programme Students from Norway September 2019

On the 14th of September, 2019 the students of second year HEP had the honour of interacting with few students from Han University, Netherlands, who were India, to work with the Centre for Social Action (CSA).  After a welcome speech by Priya Shakti, the students began their presentation which focused on their country, The Netherlands. A wide range of topics like politics, culture, tthe education  system, sports, music were discussed in detailed. The students acquainted us to the history of the country and branched out to discuss the important monuments, cultural or heritage sites, demography, geographical features and food of the country. The presentation included wonderful pictures and a very creative video, on their country. The students of 3HEP took a virtual trip to Netherlands during the course of the comprehensive and elaborate presentation.
The differences between the structure of the Education System in India and The Netherlands was extensively discussed. Most number of questions, during the interactive session following the presentation were based on the topic of Education. The students from Han University, Netherlands shared personal instances revolving around their education which made the Indians in the room draw a parallel to what they experience. The students from Netherlands then answered questions on a wide array of topics, ranging from the crime rates in their nation to the traditional music they listen to. When asked about what they loved the most about India, they said that they loved the warmth and friendly nature of the people, and the food. They described Pani Puri and Biriyani as their favourite food.  The Indians in the room beamed with pride when their most loved food was praised by their Dutch friends. The interactive session ended with a Vote of Thanks from Prajwal B M and soon after, the students were escorted to enjoy some refreshments arranged by the class.
The session was a unique way to learn about a country. Learning from students about their own nation did provide a fresh perspective on the Nation and other related topics. The interactive session was one of a kind, and will be remembered by the member of the audience for a long time.
